چکیده

We study the effects of temperature and sliding velocity on superlubricity in numerical simulations of the Frenkel-Kontorova model. We show that resonant excitations of the phonons in an incommensurate sliding body lead to an effective friction and to thermal equilibrium with energy distributed over the internal degrees of freedom. For finite temperature, the effective friction can be described well by a viscous damping force, with a damping coefficient that emerges naturally from the microscopic dynamics. This damping coefficient is a non-monotonic function of the sliding velocity which peaks around resonant velocities and increases with temperature. At low velocities, it remains finite and nonzero, indicating the preservation of superlubricity in the zero-velocity limit. Finally, we propose experimental systems in which our results could be verified. PACS numbers: 46.55.+d, 05.45.a, 45.05.+x, 46.40.Ff Submitted to: J. Phys.: Condens. Effect of temperature as well as heating and cooling cycles on rock properties

Temperature has a significant role in many actions performed on rocks. An example would be the effect of temperature on rocks in the burial of nuclear waste, geothermal energy extraction, deep oil well drilling, and fires in tunnels. In addition, due to diurnal/nocturnal as well as seasonal temperature variations, rocks undergo a process of heating and cooling. In the present work, the effect o...

Effect of Air Velocity and Temperature on Energy and Effective Moisture Diffusivity for Russian Olive (Elaeagnusan gastifolial L.) in Thin-Layer Drying

Thin layer drying of Russian olive (Elaeagnusan gastifolial L.) fruit using a hot air dryer in order to calculate effective moisture diffusivity, activation energy and energy consumption has been evaluated in this article. The selected variables included three levels of air velocity of 0.5, 1 and 1.5 m/s and three air temperature levels of 50, 60 and 70°C. Increased air temperature...

Numerical and Experimental Study of Effect of Scan Velocity in Laser Forming by Temperature Gradient Mechanism

In this paper the process of laser forming has been investigated using an analytical and an experimental method for three levels scans velocity. A coupled analysis has been performed in ANSYS®. Also in order to prove the predictive methods, experiments on thin sheet metals have been done when a laser of a fair power was used. Before done, experiments were designed with full factorial chosen as ...

Effect of the temperature difference between gas and organic dust on propagating spherical flames

A new analytical study performed to investigate the effect of the temperature difference between gas and particle in propagation of the spherical flames. The combustible system is containing uniformly distributed volatile fuel particles in an oxidizing gas (Air) mixture. The model includes evaporation of volatile matter of dust particles to known gaseous fuel (methane) and the single-stage reac...
